In partnership with Save the Children, 9/11 Day, and the Corporation for National & Community Service, YSA is called on youth leaders to help their communities be prepared to stand strong during disasters by organizing disaster preparedness awareness events and community service projects on September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Youth Leadership of Erie held its 9/11 A Day of Remembrance & Celebration with a Disaster Preparedness Safety Awareness Fair at the Veterans Memorial Stadium to remember those who lost their lives in this tragic attack & to honor those who still serve, not only in the military but also as our First Responders & Disaster Relief. The fail entailed of a ceremony with different members & leaders of the Erie Community to come together to unite Erie with different religious leaders, where East meets West at the Vets & #ERIEstrong.

The second half of the event consisted of various agencies & organizations to educate the public on how to be safe & had hands on interactive activities to teach them, this included somethings like: The Smoke House Simulator, which places the person in a fire situation, personal First Aid making Kits, Police, EMT, & Fire were available to educate & reach out to the community. Also, the CERT Team held classes for n CPR(Hands only) education. Also, Various cultural groups were invited to promote awareness to erase stigma & prejudices & educate about the wonderful diversity which makes up the city.
